Biography

Music Is Universal ~ Music Is Life

Lizzy has been playing violin from the age of 8 with the influence of her older brother and viewing violinist Vanessa Mae on TV at a young age. She is currently studying Music at Bath Spa University. While starting university she has taken up playing Viola, Erhu and Bass Viol. With her parents encouraging her to listen to a wide variety of music from an early age, Lizzy has an eclectic and diverse musical taste which reflects in the contrasting ensembles she partakes in.
Formerly the Principle Violinist of School's Philharmonic Orchestra in Bath, Lizzy has now switched to viola for the ensemble. She plays violin in Bath Spa University's Orchestra as well as viola in Bath Spa's Baroque Strings and Georgian Band.
Outside of university she has formed Aquae Sulis Strings, a quartet, with other students from Bath Spa. Also having an interest in alternative rock/punk/ska music, Lizzy is the lead vocalist of duo Molly & Yee and band Rum & Ghost who perform covers along with writing original material.
Lizzy loves learning about the music of different cultures, especially Oriental and Eastern music. She has done collaborations and performances involving Chinese and Indian music. Although Lizzy has a great love for stringed instruments, she also enjoys performing Javanese and Balinese Gamelan with the university's ensemble.
Working with people to create music (be it performing or teaching) is Lizzy's greatest passion and she hopes to inspire others or at least make them smile through sound!
